Craft Talk at NYU

Craft Talk with Jessie Ren Marshall - Short Stories, Essays, and Interviews: Getting Your Work Published Before You Have a Book.

At the Lillian Vernon Writer’s House, join Jessie Ren Marshall, New York University MFA alum and author of the 2024 story collection WOMEN! IN! PERIL!, for a discussion of ways to publish your work before you have an agent or a book. We’ll review specific outlets that want your essays, short fiction, and author interviews; share tips for success; and provide examples of pitches that caught an editor’s eye. We’ll finish with a Q&A that highlights the importance of building a literary community to achieve your short-form publication goals. (NOTE: Talk is open to NYU MFA candidates and alumni only)
